About Pacific Sun Farms

Milling Olive Oil on Our Family Farm

IMG_0596

Pacific Sun Farms extra virgin olive oils are milled on our family farm in Tehama County, an agriculturally rich and diverse region of Northern California. Tehama County sits at the head of California’s Central Valley, which is traversed by the Sacramento River and surrounded by majestic mountain and valley views.

Because of its unique geology and Mediterranean climate, Tehama County is ideally suited for growing olives. Pacific Sun Farms olive oil is milled within one day of harvest in order to capture the fresh essence of the olives. In the morning, the olive fruit is on the tree. At noon, the fruit is in the bin. By evening, the olive oil is produced.

Our History

Pacific Farms & Orchards, Inc., is a third-generation family farm operating in Tehama County since 1952. Our farm headquarters are in Gerber, California, at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley with a view of Mt. Shasta to the north. Owned by Jane Flynn and managed by her son Brendon Flynn, the farm employs approximately 25 dedicated individuals, many of whom have been with the farm for 15 years or more. In addition to operating a first class olive oil mill, Pacific Farms & Orchards is a producer of orchard crops such as prunes, walnuts, almonds and olives.

Jane was raised in Pacific Palisades, in Los Angeles, California. She was about as far removed from agriculture as possible until she moved to Gerber, California, as a young bride. Mrs. Flynn raised six children on the farm before becoming a “farmer by default” after her husband’s untimely death in a plane accident in 1986. She felt a responsibility to the men who worked for her husband and her family to keep Pacific Farms going. In the years since Mr. Flynn’s death, Pacific Farms has continued to innovate, and Mrs. Flynn credits the success to the farm’s experienced management team.

Brendon is a third generation farmer who was born and raised in Tehama County. Pacific Farms was originally started by his grandfather in 1952. Brendon holds a B.S. in Agricultural Business from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After working in many different areas related to agri-business, Brendon returned to his family’s farming operation to pursue a career in production agriculture. His focus on diversifying the scope of Pacific Farm’s business and his desire to bring a product directly “from the field to the consumer” has led to the Pacific Sun Farms olive oil venture.
