Pacific Sun Olive Oil Releases Two New Oils For 2004
Pacific Sun Olive Oil of Gerber, California is proud to announce the release of two new oils for 2004. "Both oils are crafted from local, Tehama County olives, and are representative of the unique terroir of Tehema County," stated Brian Kenny, Sales and Marketing Manager for Pacific Sun.
The Riverview Ranch Tuscan Blend is crafted from Frantoio and Leccino olives, two varieties commonly associated with the Tuscany region of Italy, grown in the volcanic bluffs above the Sacramento River in the Jelly's Ferry area of Tehama County. "This oil has a wonderful, tomato-leaf overtone and buttery body, coupled with a pronounced, peppery finish," explained Brendon Flynn, manager of Pacific Sun, "We are using traditional Tuscan varieties to create an oil that is representative of our region." Kenny added that flavor is the result of geography, history, and culture. "We have a unique geography, a unique history, and a unique culture here in Tehama County," he added, "thus our oil has a unique flavor, as well it should."
The Woodson Bridge Sevillano is crafted from Sevillano olives, a variety commonly associated with the California olive canning industry ad often referred to as the Queen olive, grown in the class one soils of the banks of the Sacramento River near Woodson Bridge in Corning. "This oil has a sublime herbaceousness coupled with a buttery body and a prolonged peppery finish," explained Brendon Flynn, manager of Pacific Sun, "We wanted to showcase the subtle beauty of our Sevillano olive oil." Kenny added that flavor profile of the Sevillano oil lends it self to pairing with a Sauvignon Blanc wine.
"We are moving further in our mission to get our customers in touch with their agrarian roots," said owner Jane Flynn, "these new oils further exhibit the nuances and flavors of different varieties of olives."
